1. Information we collect
Bookmark Palette does not collect personal information, browsing history, bookmark contents, search queries, analytics, telemetry, or crash reports. The extension does not operate a server and makes no network requests for these purposes.
2. How your data is used
The extension accesses data only to provide features you request:
- Bookmarks: read and modified through Chromium's native bookmark APIs so you can search, open, add, rename, move, reorder, and delete them.
- Settings: stored using browser-managed extension storage. Settings may sync between your browsers if you have enabled your browser's sync service.
- Frecency data: recent and frequent bookmark usage is stored locally to rank results.
- Active tab details: the current page's title and URL are read only when you invoke a feature that needs them, such as adding the active page as a bookmark or opening the palette overlay.
- Favicons: displayed through Chromium's built-in favicon endpoint without an independent network fetch by Bookmark Palette.
3. Data storage and sharing
Bookmark data remains in Chromium's native bookmark store. Extension preferences, ranking data, and temporary index data remain in browser-managed storage. Bookmark Palette does not send this information to the developer or any third party.
If browser sync is enabled, your browser provider may sync bookmarks or settings under that provider's own terms and privacy policy. Bookmark Palette does not control that service.
4. Optional profile-switching companion
If you separately install and enable the optional native companion, the extension may send a URL to that locally installed companion solely to open it in another browser profile. This feature is off by default and does not send data to Bookmark Palette servers.
5. Data retention and deletion
Because the developer does not receive your data, the developer retains no user data. You can remove extension settings and local data by uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage. Your native bookmarks remain under your control unless you delete them.
6. Children's privacy
Bookmark Palette does not knowingly collect information from children or any other users.
7. Changes to this policy
If the extension's data practices change, this policy will be updated and the effective date below will be revised.
